Zum Naturhistorischen und Naturwissenschaftlichen Museum gehört ein botanischer Garten, ein alter Hörsaal mit Chemielabor, eine Sternwarte und eine alte Reithalle. Da es seit dem 17. Jh. diverse Bildungseinrichtungen beherbergte, umfasst sein Bestand dutzende von Ausstellungen und Aktivitäten. Es entstand aus dem Real Museu de História Natural, verbindet Universitäten und Gesellschaft und sieht seinen Auftrag in der ständigen Erweiterung des Wissens.
